The 'right' panel for a luxury peninsula home is rarely a single 200A main panel. Common architectures:
400A meter feeding a 400A main breaker, which feeds 200A to a main panel (interior loads) and 200A to a sub-panel (HVAC, EVs, pool, outdoor). Allows independent load management per major system.
Two completely independent 200A services from PG&E — one for the main house, one for an ADU/pool house/guest cottage. Common when the ADU is rented or the pool house has a separate metering plan.
Smart-home work splits between line-voltage (our scope) and low-voltage (the AV integrator's scope). The boundary is the dimmer or relay: everything upstream of that — panel feeds, dedicated circuits, conduit pathways, junction boxes — is ours; everything downstream — keypads, scene programming, system commissioning — is theirs. Estate-class projects typically have 60-150 control points (dimmers, relays, motorized shades, climate sensors), each requiring a properly-sized circuit and a documented backbone.
We coordinate directly with the major integrator partners (Lutron-certified, Crestron-authorized, Control4 dealers) and provide the electrical specifications they need at the design phase. By the time the construction crew arrives, every conduit path is already planned and the panel slots are pre-allocated.
