01What testing actually verifies.

Cabling testing measures electrical performance of each terminated drop against industry standard specifications. ANSI/TIA-568 specifies pass criteria for each cable category: Cat6 has specific NEXT, return loss, and insertion loss limits; Cat6a has tighter limits in the same parameters. A drop that passes Cat6a certification will reliably support 10 Gbps Ethernet to the cable's full distance.

Testing catches real installation issues. Bent pairs from over-tight cable ties degrade crosstalk performance. Poor termination at the jack (untwisted pairs longer than 0.5 inches at the connector) increases NEXT failure. Damaged cable from staples, crushed conduit transitions, or excessive bend radius degrades multiple parameters. Failed drops aren't accepted as 'good enough' — they get fixed until they pass. Re-test after remediation. Final test report shows only passing drops; failed-then-fixed drops show resolution.

How do you handle pricing — flat fee or hourly?

Both, depending on scope. Routine service calls and predictable scope (panel replacement, EV charger install, transfer switch install, fixture replacement) are flat-fee quoted up front. Diagnostic visits and emergency scope are hourly because we don't know what we'll find. Either way, you get a written quote before work starts on anything significant, and we don't proceed beyond the quote without your sign-off.

How quickly can you schedule?

Depends on scope and season. Emergency dispatch: same-day across Marin County (1-3 hours business hours, 1-4 hours after-hours).
